Connection - Now Open for submissions!
connection event poster

“Connection is in our every day. It is the state of being 'related to' that fosters a sense of community between individuals. In this exhibition Toronto Analog Friends presents a selection of photographs exploring the theme of "Connection" and what it means to relate to one another. These photographers seek to depict an intangible draw; they observe both the metaphysical and the concrete ways we cultivate connection.”

This year, the TAF community will be putting up photos at Morning Parade and Moss Park Espresso as part of the Contact Photography Festival. We are calling on our community to send us any film photographs they have created that follows the theme of connection. This group has been a vehicle in connecting photographers from the many parts of Toronto and the GTA and we felt this theme was appropriate in highlighting that aspect of the community.

The submission period is Sunday, March 24th to Tuesday, April 9th (2024), 11:59 PM. As there are limited spaces in these venues this will be juried. See details below for further information.

Hope we can come together and highlight our community through this exhibition!

What is the Contact Photography Festival?

CONTACT inspires communities through the power of photography.

Established in 1997, CONTACT is a not-for-profit organization celebrating the art and profession of photography. Committed to cultivating an inclusive and accessible approach to the medium, CONTACT builds community by providing a platform for dynamic collaborations and productive engagement between Canadian and international photographers, curators, partner organizations, and audiences, locally and globally. In both its annual Festival and in its year-round programming, CONTACT recognizes the significance of photography within all aspects of contemporary life, and the creative possibilities it envisions for the past, present, and future.

The Festival’s Open Call Exhibitions embody a broad range of lens-based practices, and bring together the photographic community with innovative presentations at galleries and alternative spaces across the Greater Toronto Area.

Any film photograph you have made that follows the theme of connection. A maximum of three photographs can be uploaded. If selected, you will be required to print and frame your photograph. Due to space constraints, the largest frame size we can accommodate is 11”x14”. This is to maximize the amount of photographers we can include. Details will be communicated to you about frame drop off and install.

If for some reason the Google Forms is giving you issues, please send images to TAFPhotoChallenge@gmail.com. Provide your IG/Discord handle, as well as any comments regarding the photos. The deadline will still apply, so please submit accordingly.

If interested, Contact has provided a list of local photo resources
